Hawaiʻi Triennial 2022
Hawaiʻi Triennial (February 18, 2022 to May 8, 2022) featured at the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum that focuses on Native/non-Native collaborations, including work edited, published, produced or designed by ʻElepaio Press (1976 to present) together with the literary magazine Seaweeds and Constructions (1976-1984) and Westlake: Poems by Wayne Kaumualii Westlake (1947-1984) published by the University of Hawaiʻi Press in 2009.
Visual Poetry

As a visual artist, I began painting these new pieces with the mission to depict Wayne Kaumualii Westlake’s poetry as raw and unfiltered as possible. Constructing images with a blend of typographical effects, the pieces become alive as they convey meaning along with visual significance. This style that I have full-heartedly embraced can be referred to as visual poetry.
